Title: Water Temps have dropped.
Post by: ped579 on May 14, 2010, 09:14:56 AM
There is a lot of talk about water temperatures dropping.  Well if you look at the 2 sets of Rutgers infrared satellite photos you can see just the difference between yesterday and today.

The white areas are cloud cover and the cameras are not able to penetrate to the sea to capture the temps.  Click on the images to enlarge.

It is pretty dramatic that the strong winds are causing an early upwelling that can be in our favor.  With the cooler waters around the bass will stay a bit longer so will the large bait pods that have been going in and out of the surf.

It is all good for us surf pounders.  I am looking to get out tonight if we don't have any thunderstorms like the weather guys are predicting.  It should be interesting as there is a New Moon tonight and the west wind, I am hoping for some great action.  We'll see what happens as the day progresses.

Happy Catching
