Title: barnegat Ridge 15Aug15
Post by: Reel Time on August 15, 2015, 05:22:11 PM
Hit up the ridge as planned to not so fair conditions.

Found the new weather buoy off barnegat,,, well I do think it is the old Barnegat buoy repainted yellow, bell removed with some equipment installed. Repurposed i guess, but either way, no mahi there that I found.

Trolled south along some ridges and lumps marking bait and fish here and there with only one hit on a clark spoon that came loose just out of vision. What ever it was, it was small as it didn't take any drag.

Switched over to try some fluking on same structure with nothing to show but a ling. Jumped around tried a few more spots and came on in.

Tried bumping my cruise speed a bit today since I had a full tank and was only hitting up the ridge running it 4200-4300 rpms. With 5 people on board we did 65 miles and burned 22 gals of fuel,,, Might have found my sweet spot.

Nice try, and 65 miles on 22 gallons is not too bad.
