Title: Yamaha vs Honda outboard
Post by: Fightin Irish on September 01, 2016, 08:53:29 PM
Thinking of repowering from my twin 200hpdi yamaha to 225's.  What do people think about these motors.

I can't say enough about my 225  4 stoke..  She will pure like a fine tuned machine for 12 straight hours off shore..  never even have to turn her off.. you forget it's running..  I'm sure the newer models are much better..

the Hondas, and any comparable HP 4stroke for that matter, are significantly heavier than your HPDIs.

like 125lbs more, each motor, BF225 vs VZ200.

I have heard that on some older hulls, the additional weight of 4strokes on the transom will sink the scuppers under water.

Although when I stand on Ya Sista's Ass' transom (200lbs) I can hardly see the boat move.

They are going on my 28ft gradywhite. I think the weight of the motors shouldn't make to much of a difference. Also need a good place to have them installed that would know all these little things.  Thanks for the info.
