Title: Support Status Quo for Fluke in 2017!
Post by: Hotrod on December 29, 2016, 09:30:44 PM
NOAA Fisheries is prepared to set an 11.30 million pound acceptable biological catch (ABC) for 2017 which represents a 29% reduction from the 2016 ABC. On top of that, NOAA Fisheries believes that recreational fishermen exceeded their recreational harvest limit in 2016 and that the recreational harvest limit in 2017 will need to be reduced by the amount of the overage. The result, the recreational sector is looking at close to a 40% reduction in 2017 which would represent the most restrictive measures in the history of the fishery's management......

PETITION UPDATE

ASMFC meetin update
Tom Trageser
Brick, NJ
FEB 4, 2017 — As you may be aware, the ASMFC meeting was held on Thursday February 2. To make a long story short the council voted in favor of option 5. Not what we wanted!
It is worth noting, NJ politicians, and council members did a great job of asking for status quo. Unfortunately, the other states do not have the same backbone our delegation has.
NJ will continue to fight this battle. NJ has chosen to go out of compliance. This fight is long from over.
Stay tuned it is going to be an interesting ride!

If you would have listened to this meeting you would have pulled your hair out--I hope they post the theaudio of that meeting soon--NJ offered $45000.00 for them to start a real survey and they said NO --just Like Irish said 30 years and no progress
