Title: 10/7 Squan/IBSP/Belmar
Post by: Takes Prizoners on October 07, 2017, 10:43:42 PM
Wanted to overnight tonight in the park but didn't want to deal with the winds through the night. Decided to fish the daytime instead. Set out at 5am and in the park just after 6. Target was stripers, blues, and tog. Hopped on the beach and drove right down to the inlet. Lots of campers but only a few people fishing. I tossed lures without a sniff while my friend went for tog. 1st one was 15" and female so it went back. Next he had a couple small seabass and another smaller tog. Saw a few blues jump in the inlet but saw no one else catching anything. Moved up the beach hitting a few sandbars but still no one home. Had an issue with my brake caliper so went to get lunch and hit the auto store for caliper pins. Got that taken care of then headed to point pleasant canal. current was screaming so just gave it a few casts then headed to Manasquan inlet. 1st spot had bergalls or something taking baits. moved closer to the jetty and started getting shorts. that bite died about 3/4 through the slack tide. Moved up to Belmar marina to try for stripers/blues under the bridge but no signs of life. Ended with a few casts at shark river inlet and headed home at 7pm.

Thanks guys. Thought the moon would have moved all the bait out to the front but all I saw was a small pack of mullet swimming through Manasquan. If the weather is bearable next weekend, I think I'm going to setup a portable light up on a pier and hope the food chain follows
