Title: Break Out Another Thousand
Post by: Takes Prizoners on June 10, 2018, 09:16:47 PM
Well, that's about where I'm at. lol. Had off of work all week for jury duty. Thursday prior to that I got a slip in Keyport for the season. Monday, I didn't have to go in so I spent the day bottom painting. Tuesday ended up in the court room all day. Wednesday out by lunch so I had time to runs some checks on the boat. Had an alarm sounding so did some researching. Found that the alarm is for low oil. After researching more, found that the tank mounted on the motor is a common problem with mercury outboards. Spent the rest of the day trying to locate the part locally. No one had it. Thursday had to go to the court house again. So, decided to bring my Salty Dog mag and call every damn mercury service center. Finally found a place in Bayville. Got out of court just after I got back from lunch. Hopped on the motorcycle and shot down and back for the part. Replaced it and still have the alarm. Going to pump all the fuel out tomorrow after work and run some fresh fuel through it. If that doesn't work, off to the pros.  rgmn

Thanks guys. Got a slip at wagners who works on mercury but the boat is still in the driveway and I have DNR about 5 miles away. We'll see what the fuel dump accomplishes

Good luck.  Billy the mechanic  at Wagners is very good.
I think he invented the outboard  motor.  Lol
I slip there too.

That's great to hear. Just called them and said they can usually get it squared away in a couple days.  The couple local guys I called said they have about a 10 day backup. Hopefully I'll see you in the marina soon
