Title: Freshwater trolling motor, saltwater usage?
Post by: blackfish85 on September 20, 2018, 08:11:12 AM
Hi everyone, I have recently found a nice used trolling motor (Minnkota, here's the link (https://www.boatid.com/minn-kota/minn-kota-new-terrova-freshwater-trolling-motor-1194360753.html)), yet it's a freshwater motor, you see. So I am kinda concerned about whether it won't corrode or something if I will use it in salt water? Does anyone know, what's the technical difference in the electric motors that are noted for freshwater and saltwater usage?

I own a Minnkota transom mount 12volt trolling motor and have used it plenty of times in saltwater and have had no issues. A freshwater rinse when your done is always good.
