Title: 2019 ITS ON ON THE TOMS RIVER
Post by: ped579 on March 20, 2019, 04:49:50 PM
Okay here we go...  They are catching Perch and Stripers in the Toms River.  According to Dennis at the Hook House on Rt 37, the bait of choice are blood worms.  It might get crowded in most of the favorite places so be patient.  Plus most private boats are not in the water  yet so there are tons of guys using waders to get in the clear in some spots.  It makes no difference, pick either side of the river.

If your looking for fresh clams they are not to be found and again according to Dennis most clamming boats are not even going our yet but most shops have salted clams.

Good luck guys it looks like we will be having an early season run watch out for late April it should be interesting.  Get your gear ready here comes a new season.

Hi guys,  I'll be going over to Betty & Nicks today and if anything new pops up I will let everyone know, besides it is John Bushell's Birthday today if your in the neighborhood stop by and wish him a Happy Birthday.

Plus I need to tie some new streamers and Perch flies/streamers.  They are more like a wet fly.  Looking for yellow chicken hackle.

See you laters...

Yeah I hit three shorts last week in about 90 minutes using bloodworms.

They weren't big at all but it sure was nice to see them.

Sounds good.  I'm looking forward to get out Sat. if the weather co operates.  I now have my equipment is ready to go especially with a new truck and having to get use to the sand with it.  This year I will be using mostly bucktails till I get use to them again.  I have tons of other lures especially after 50 + years of buying STUFF..
