Title: 7/28 raritan bay "fluking"
Post by: Takes Prizoners on July 28, 2019, 09:57:38 PM
Headed out this morning for a shakedown trip on a friends new-to-him boat. Had the boat floating by 530. Once our last guy showed up, we pushed off. On the way towards sandy hook, stopped and drifted across Raritan Bay Reach channel right on the border. Picked up a 17"ish fluke and a cocktail blue. Thought that was a good sign for the rest of the day. Next stop was Chapel Hill. Couldn't hold bottom so made a move. Played around SeaRobin Hook the rest of the morning. I haven't encountered this many in a day over the last 10 years. Nearly every hook up was a big robin. Thought I had a nice fish coming up towards the end, but turned out to be a foul hooked robin. Back at the cluster F of a ramp by 1130.
