E T A Attacks
Hurricane Eta originated from a vigorous tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Eta attained hurricane status on November 2. The storm stalled in the southern Gulf before being pulled north as it gradually restrengthened and briefly became a hurricane again on November 11 before another blast of dry air weakened it back to a tropical storm. Hurricane Eta, with damage estimates exceeding 5 billion dollars, was a deadly, erratic, long-lived, and powerful hurricane that killed more than 150 people and became the second most intense November hurricane on record, only behind the 1932 Cuba hurricane.
