fluking 6/25
« on: June 25, 2009, 06:38:11 PM »
out of Sayreville this morning with fishing buddies Dave and John, headed straight for the hook, fishing by 7:45,gave Dieselhp a shout on the cell as soon as I got out,we were off the beach and he was in the rip, while talking to him fish on,thought it was a blue fish, got it in and it was a striper almost 29 inches, took my fluke setup,a 4 inch gulp swimming glow mullet with a smelt.shortly after that met up with Dieselhp by the rip, nice seeing you again Rick, real nice ride that boat of yours.we each went different ways, continued fishing 1/4 mile off the beach drifting back to the rip and going as far down to the nude beach to start, able to pick a few keepers, also lots of shorts and birds mixed in,and one dogfish that Dave and I caught together,it had taken both lines.continued working the area and actually going out into the sandy hook channel, action all morning, after the tide changed moved to off the ammo pier, gave Dieselhp a shout on the cell phone to see how he was doing and he was back at the dock, again while talking to him fish on so hung up,this time a 21 inch fluke, called him back and said I should keep him on the phone, everytime I called fish on.stayed in this area to around 1:30,still getting action, picked another fluke at 22 inches, decided to head back bay give a quick shot there and head in ,just leaving the area spotted the Fluka Brasi, went over and said hello to Treebeard, good to see him again, nice ride you have Mark, asked how he was doing and believe he said 4 in the box, also said he was staying out till the next tide change,we headed back bay and made one drift and nothing, think the water is still to dirty back there,in all we put 1 striper in the box and 6 fluke to 22 inches.hot bait turned out to be the gulp 4 inch pink swimming mullet with a squid strip, the pink mullet a bait one of our members Salty Dog turned me on to,great day on the water, perfect conditions all day.got home and we did the assembly line filet and skin,I only kept one side of the striper filet want to do that cajun striper burger in our recipe section, had it when Striper74 made it and it was good t^  Kez

Sweet...You did better than us on the Sea Hawk.  I think you took just about as many keepers as we did.   :P
