Sea Hawk Fluke 7/7
« on: July 07, 2009, 05:29:52 PM »
Started out in the back bay for a few drifts and even with power-drifting it just wasn't right. Could only manage a few fish and just didn't want to wait for the change as yesterday it still wasn't strong enough.

Headed out towards the ammo pier and Sandy Hook area to join the fleet and still could only get a pick at best. We would get only a couple fluke per drift, but pick away we did. Tough fishing overall, but some did manage better than others. High hook had 4 keepers and also had a few onboard with 3 each. Pool fish went 6lbs.

Those that have been doing better have been working their baits. Bucktails or simple bait rigs. The less jewelery the better. Trimmed baits and constant bouncing to make those baits flutter. Sometimes a strip and single spearing have been producing best, other times just two spearing.
Fish have been feasting on rainfish and small porgies so maybe a little pink in your offering may help.

Hoping later in the week the wind, tide, and overall conditions should improve.

Nice report Capt. You can not dictate the conditions. No drift typically = little to no fluke.  :P
