catfish's fluke report
« on: July 12, 2009, 08:16:45 AM »
well it has been a long week of fishing ,it seems my trips are getting harder for me ,I cant seem to put a good pull together this season and have to work hard for the small amount of fish I can get ,yesterday we fished the njh fluke contest and I had to work for every fish we landed ,we started off w/ 2 drifts that produced nothing at all but a short so I made a move knowing I had a short window of time before the blow .We went to work on them picking some fish on every drift until I found the mark ,then we started putting numbers in the box ,We had 4 fish in the four lb range and a couple in the 3 range but just couldnt put any big fish on the deck ,we had one big hook up but it came loose on us .the total count for the day was 20 bucktails gone to the bottom and 13 keeper fluke to show for them .We got knocked out of second place by one once and missed the money ,but thats fishing ,sorry no pics.south winds suck

We only put three in the box Charlie, and none of them were mine  5hrug
It's been a horrible 2009 for me fishing wise, but hey, it happens and it only takes one trip and one fish to turn it all around  ;D

Yesterday was definitely a butt kicker. We had two keepers, neither of them mine. They were the fish that beat Charlies crew by an ounce. Sorry about that, Charlie. No one was more suprised than me.
I donated five or six bucktails to the rock gods as well. A diver could make a small fortune retrieving Spros from the "Rocks".

Nice fish.  Did I mention I'm going diving for bucktails?  Too bad we did'nt get in touch.  There were some nice fish where I was.  I have had the same bucktail on for 3 weeks.  No Limits, but some quality fish.  How big was the winner?
