Roosters Flukin 7-30
« on: July 30, 2009, 06:43:39 PM »
Tom and I had retired sheetmetal Ace Dennis Hughes with us this morning looking for a few keeper Fluke. To take it easy on the old guy we decided to fish Sandy Hook Bay where the waters were expected to be calm. I again landed the first keeper about fifteen minutes from our slip in Atlantic Highlands Marina. Slack tide followed soon afterward and we had to endure a very long wait for the tide to start in and the fishing to improve. Dennis started providing many Fluke mostly shorts and a strange catch of tangled fishing line loaded with seaweed, Tom hand lined the line into the boat and brought up a 21½" Fluke which I netted. The big fish was very docile and had a rig with it with a two-ounce sinker painted green. If you paint your sinkers green we have your fish. Total catch for the morning was seven keeper Fluke, few Sea Robins, and one small Bluefish. Everything seem to work in regards to bait Gulp!, Killies and other strip baits.  Pete

Pete, You left behind two small buckets and green twisters placed them along side your deck box which had some killie trap line hanging out. (you guys must have been in a fire drill). cfzd
