8/7 Fluking in the Wind
« on: August 08, 2009, 05:32:45 PM »
Had a trip scheduled for Friday, but got a call Thurs evening and the ol' Capt I'm sorry we can't make it...........

Being as Matt was oing to be wrestling this weekend in a National Tournament, shook him out of bed and we were on the water by 0815...

Beutiful day bright sun, NOAA forcast for 10-15, a tad off at 20-25...... 5hrug

Hit the area buy the Terminal channel, the entire world was there, made three fast drifts had 4 shorts and some birds.

Being as we only had a short time to fish headed out to the SH Channel...we were doing real good until the wind was ripping with the tide, then a 3+ knot drift, buddy Mike had borrowed my drift sock, could not hold bottom with 12 oz.

Ran down the beach to get into the lee of the land, finished up with a few more fish.

Total 8 keepers 18-22 inches, a lot of shorts 17 1/2 to 17 9/10.....

When I was cleaning the fish one of the 18 inch fluke had a 8" Mackeral strip,a 6" Squid strip and a spearing on a teaser hook in it's gut, little guy was feasting on some bait before he fell to the Kellie/Gulp TT^

We be on land all weekend with Matt at the tournament t^

Nice report and catch Bob. Good to get out instead of wasting the day with the no show.

Good luck to Matt in the tourney.  t^
