Hunter 2-sun, Aug 16 Fluke Tournament
« on: August 17, 2009, 04:36:06 PM »
I fished my Wagner's marina Fluke tournament yesterday. We left the marina at 6:30am and head for the Verrazzano bridge. I had cashin and massbaster on the boat. The drift was around 2.5 mph and the depth was between 60 and 80 feet. It was tough to hold bottom with 12 ounces. We were landing fish pretty quick some keepers and some shorts. I made a small move in the direction of the hook but still in Ambrose channel. The drift was alittle slower. I had a nice bite and fought a nice 5.1 pound fluke for a couple of minutes on light tackle. So we felt better with that fish in the box. It started getting late so we moved up the Raritan to fish the Reach channel for an hour or so. We were picking away at the Fluke when Steve lands a nice 25" Fluke. We had 19 Fluke with 5 keepers on the boat. I head back to the marina for the 2pm weigh in and saw my friend Joe holding a much bigger fish than mine :-\. The winning fish was 9.8 pounds. Joes was 9.7 pounds :'( and third place was 7.5 pounds.  My two big fish weighed the same 5.1 pounds. The party after the weigh in was great and a good time was had by all. Even though it was Africa hot outside on the asphalt.
    Good luck,   Eddie chrz

Nice catch Eddie. Always fun doing the tournaments, especially your own marina's. AT least you had some decent fish to weigh in. Get em next year.  t^
