Atlantic Highlands, Captain Rons Fishermen has been able to squeeze in a few good trips before and after the storm. Captain Ron fished ocean side with several nice keepers including Tom Krako's pool winning six pounder.

Shark River, Captain Joe aboard the Irish Ayes had friends Buck tail Bob, Pete and Matthew out for some fluke fishing. Captain Joe was able to make several productive drifts. Most all baits were producing fish including whole squid, smelts and peanut bunker. Final keeper tally for the crew was nine fat fluke up to 20", with countless shorts in between.

Captain Rich Wilkowsk, owner of -------- in Brick NJ, had a little surprise Tuesday, when 14-year-old Chris Maine rode up on his bicycle with a 45" inch 34-pound striper in a garbage bag.Chris caught the bass Tuesday morning around 3 am in the Point Pleasant Canal using live eels he purchased from Rich that evening.  Chris said he had a couple shorts and one other keeper he released.

Brielle, Captain Jerry aboard the Fish Monger has been mixing it up. The Fish Monger seems to always be in the right place at the right time. Captain Jerry continues to find Bonito, false albacore, skip jacks and their cousins the Spanish mackerel on the Fish Monger light tackle trips.
The crew was also able to chunk a few yellow fin tuna in the slick and box four for dinner and a nice 40lb blue fin tuna in the mix. Talk about your reel screaming, if you never battled a tuna before then you have no idea how powerful a fish can be.

Did You Know?

Annual Global capture fisheries production was about 92 million tones.
Our calculations indicate that is equivalent to the weight of 18.4 million elephants or 46 million SUVs (all these SUVs lined up would stretch five times around the earth at the equator).
Global fish capture production first sale value is estimated at US $91.2 billion.
Top five countries in world capture production, China, Peru, United States of America, Indonesia, and Japan. The top five marine species for capture production are, Anchovies, Alaskan Pollock, Skipjack tuna, Atlantic herring and Blue herring. For more interesting facts and IGFA events log onto www.igfa.org
