Bottom fishing outside Manasquan inlet 9/19-20
« on: September 21, 2009, 12:02:36 PM »
Took the new boat out to the ocean through the Manasquan inlet. Fished a little past the red buoy there, maybe a mile or so out. Didn't get skunked but nothing good. Saw a good amount of bunker pods but no action, no birds, and no blues when I casted into them. Caught a couple spiny dogfish and a few sea robins. I think I'm going for the wrong fish in the wrong area. Was using bunker, clams, and gulp eels as bait. Bunker is the only thing that got a fish to the surface. I might try going for sea bass next time. Whats the best bait for them? Squid?

Little pieces of Clam.. But you will need to drift structure.. or anchor over a wreck..  Pic the right spot and it will be drop and reel t^
