Bass, Blues & Blackies 11/8
« on: November 08, 2009, 09:07:30 PM »
Had brother Shay Shay, Skunk and Capt Don jr. out for a day of ok catching.  Tons of boats about a mile north of the Highlands.  Marks all over the place.  We played with metal and shads trying to muster some activity.  A couple of blue fish a handful of run offs and one 30" brother Jay worked to the box.  He was on the light (tikki) stick with a bunker colored paddy tail storm shad that gave him a run for his money.  The dudes been lifting at the Y and you would have thought the only things he's been lifting is donuts!  Poor boy was belly aching that his guns were hurting.  Go figure!  We'll when he does get this fish to the boat and Donnie puts the lip grip on him, Jay beamed like a kid seeing his new stringray bike under the christmas tree.  He's fist bumpin, grinnin like a holloween jack-o-lantern and tossin that shad up current like he was fishin his favorite honey hole in the Muskenetcong.  A couple of more bumps here and therefor all of us but not another strip to reckon with.

We made a move toward the tog grounds but could not resist the made bird play.  First lure that hits the water and a fish is on.  Hoping for bass, this thing ran north, south, east and west. At the end, a monster gator makes it boat side and shakes loose.  Sure enough there were enough over zealous warriors running their high octane triples cutting through the body fish and screwing it up for everyone.  nosmly

Got out of dodge and set up on the tog piles.  A real slow pick today.  Minimal action until the slack.  Greens and Blueclaws compliments of Donnie!  Appreciate the generosity.   We plucked and played for the next 3.5 hrs.  Donnie had the hot hand and made the limit while others mostly shorts were returned for another day.  Skunk was doing the togsanity swing and couldn't put a barb in old bucktooth.  When he finally does... he decides to horse this thing and give it another eye crossing.  Well... needless to say, he pulls the hook on a fish that should have been a sure fire.  Just wasn't his day today.

Beautiful weather.  Cold beverage and Tastee sub!  Great company and an ok catch.  What more can you ask for?  Perhaps a GIANT win!!

Pic of Jay with his first bass in 10yrs.  Now that is just way too long. After catching that bass, he was content the rest of the day and barely lifted another rod.

Till next time.
