Hey guys. Besides Fogging, is there anything else I should do for winterizing my yamaha 150 2 stroke outboard? And should I leave the motor in the down position for the winter? chrz

Change the oil in the lower unit, check oil when comes out to make sure no water was in. If water is in will look milky.

Yes leave the engine in the down position.

After foggin I always pull the plugs and give a shot of foggin oil inside the cylander, then replace plugs.

Off the top of my head..

1)You will want to change the lower gear oil.  this is in case there is water in it.. if there is. it can freeze and crack the lower end.  Not Good.

2) I would remove the batteries. and set them on a piece off ply wood in a semi controlled environment...  like a back porch or such.. and maybe give them a charge every 6 weeks.
3) leave the motor down to drain out any water.

4) I think some people spray down their engine with CR2 or alike.

Remove the prop, lube the shaft and reinstall the prop.

Lube all fittings to push out any water and don't forgat the wheel bearings on the trailer.

Stabil in the gas tank or algaecide in a diesel tank.

Does not hirt to change the lift/trim oil in case of water.
