Monday Morning Bass Hunting
« on: November 08, 2009, 07:30:18 PM »
I will be going out in the AM on Monday anyone else?  If anyone wants to meet up I will be at Grumpys between 5 and 5:30 and on the beach before 6.  It has been a good Fall so far and I plan on being out there as long as it continues.

Happy Catching

 whs  For the most part.
I was out this morning.  Not a tap in 2 hours on metals, clam, plugs, mullet, storm shads.  And didn't see a bent rod or happy fisherman for miles.   5hrug

If there's good news later in the week I might get out, otherwise I'm calling it a season while I'm ahead.

Sounds good Chris.  I have been doing well by starting down in the pocket, pre dawn.  When out there on Thursday it only took 15 mins for first fish on.  So I am going out by myself where I can concentrate on fishing.

Hi All,

Got out yesterday and picked up 2 bass predawn not keepers but they were close and fat and chunky.  The pocket was not producing like usual but that was probably because the tide was really low and the channel alongside the jetty was fairly narrow.

All were caught on clams as the clam beds looked like they took a pretty good tit as there are still shells all over the place down there.  I am hoping to get out on Wednesday if the rain holds up long enough.  I will be trying up Gillkins this time as word has it that there have been a sizable amount of fish hanging in that area for a while now.

Baits to use would be metals and clams, the top waters are not producing that well for some reason.  It might be to early or the fish are still on the bottom.  It is a different story at night I hear as the dark colored top waters are being targeted by the striped ones.  Mostly in the popper style and not the swimmers probably because of the sound who knows???

Anyway I will be out like I said on Wednesday Veterans Day 11th Month, of the 11th Day, at the 11th Hour.  Thanks to all who are serving and those that have served.  Especially those that have paid the ultimate price you will always hold a special place in my heart and thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that have and are sharing their loved ones for out protection.  God Bless.

If you go tonight make sure your plugs are dark or black.  They were hitting on poppers last night from Brick to IBSP again.  If you can try around the jetties it gets even better.

Happy Catching

2 fish isn't bad.  Good job.
I might get out tomorrow morning.  Won't know till I wake up in the morning and see what the weather and my body tell me.

Hi Chris,  we are planning the same.  I am waiting to hear from my Uncle to see if he wants to give it a try with his grandson again.  But if it rains it will be a no go for them.

They are telling me to forget the pocket right now and concentrate on Gillikins south to the bating beach.  Make sure to hit all the cuts and just inside them.  Again we'll see what happens with the weather.

Seems like around low tide out on the bar has been the time.
I don't mind a light rain, but 25mph wind and steady rain is not worth it

I agree... t^

This is true about the bars.  I used the pocket to its fullest yesterday and fished the channel that flows E to W along the jetty.  There were bass there you just had to tighten your casting and thread the needle a bit.
