Tournament Cable
« on: March 25, 2010, 05:09:49 PM »
Capt Mike and I went to Cape May to gather some boat gear for the upcoming season. On our way down we made a side trip to Tournament Cable in Cape May Courthouse. My main interest was to learn how to make a wind on leader system.

First, a little back ground on Tournament Cable. I have seen their products and heard of them thru other fishermen. They are a supplier for the offshore fisherman. I have seen their web site and they have some nice products. More important, they are very knowledgeable and will freely share their knowledge with others. Their website is jam packed with information on how-to's.

Not knowing what to expect, we walked in the front door of their operation. This put us into a reception/office area. Just past that is a showroom section where they have a lot of their finished product on display. Very impressive, or so I thought. To the right of that is their work area. Now, that was REALLY impressive.

Inside of the work area we were greeted by Chuck Richardson, the president of the company. Introductions were made and Chuck inquired as to what he could do for us. I told him of my desire to learn how to make a wind on leader. Without hesitation Chuck led us to one of his work stations, got out some dacron and mono line. He told us that he would show us exactly how one was make and proceeded to do so, explaining every step he was doing.

After doing this it was a fairly long question and answer period with me and Mike shooting questions at Chuck who graciously answered them. The man is a wealth of knowledge and, as I mentioned before, very willing to share.

Before leaving Chuck invited us to get a group together and he would open his shop up to us and give demonstrations and answer any questions we would have on offshore rigging.

So, if anybody is interested get in touch with me or Capt Mike and we could set up a day for this. Chuck is willing to spend as much time as we need to do this seminar and it would be at no cost.

I can't begin to tell you how helpful Chuck was and willing to do what ever it was to help us. Anyone in need of offshore items, Tournament Cable would be a product I would highly recommend.

Chuck and his products are all top notch!  t^

I have been using some of his competitor products for a few years now, and going forward I will be using Tournament cable products all the way.

Chuck has addressed most of my complaints that I have had with other wind on's and offshore tackle in the past. His product are top quality, well researched, and proven.

If you are currently in the offshore scene or wanting to get into, you need to see his products and consider them to be your final purchase. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!

Chuck will give you all the hands on you need to be confident with his products and your offshore adventures.

Can't ask for a nicer guy!  t^

If we get a group together we can pick a date that would work for us and call. He would need some lead time so he can get his real work done to accomodate us. I would say 4 weeks lead time for him to schedule his stuff around us.

So far we would have on our list:
Me
Capt Mike
Hotrod
BobG

Anyone else interested just copy and paste the list to your post and add your name. Once we see we would have enough interest I can make a phone call to set things up.

Don't do any offshore fishing, but thanks for the info.  I just took a look at their website and it is very impressive.  Nice that they are right here in Jersey.  Sounds like a great company!!

I saw the shops that they supply. They are all over the USA and even in Australia! They supply many of the offshore mail order catalogs also.  t^

Our club in PA had a Saturday with Chuck and to say the least it was fantastic.  We all learned something new.  Chuck was more than willing to show and help us with any rigging questions we had.  Your time will be well spent.

Just got a chance to visit this site after being told about it by Mike and Joe when they stopped in last week.

They both happened to stop in at a good time and I was able to spend some time with them and help them out with some wind-on leader questions. Glad I could help.

As I did mention to them if you get a group together we would be more than happy to open our facilities to all. A day of impromptu rigging etc.

Thanks for turning me on to the site and I hope in the future I can add some content.
