New here but not to fishin

Ive been fishing Ocean and Monmouth counties for about 24 years. Just found this site and it seems like a nice refreshing group of folks here compared to the Internet trolls on other sites. I look forward to contributing in the future.

Welcome aboard Austin.  I see you like to fish Ocean and Monmouth Co.  But what type of fishing do you do most of.  Surf, boat, bay, ocean or a little of everything?

M<y favorite type of fishing is the surf as I am located in Toms River and find the beach to be so relaxing.  I can be found mostly on IBSP.

Again Welcome Aboard

I'm normally found pluggin away at the striped ones from lavalette to deal. I also try to work my schedule around the PP canal tides for the usual fare. My father has a boat down in bayville but I still find myself alone on a dark beach most of the time. I spend more walking and lookin up at the stars on a cold clear night than fishing it seems

Forgot to mention I live very close to the freshwater tidal section of the manasquan, brick/wall twp border, so I do spend alot of time chasing trout. I also do alot of party boat fishing this time of year to shake off the shack nasties.  I don't have alot of experience fishing ibsp from shore. I'd like to change that this spring and try out the sedges from shore. We fish ibsp alot by boat though

One good place to fish the back part of ibsp is to park at A21 and walk back along the path to the canoe & kayak launch area.  There is plenty of walkable waters to keep you happy with some decent fish around especially during low light times.

That area is a favorite of mine to put the kayak in and slide out to the sedges themselves.  I like to fish the deep holes right along the islands and usually come up with a fish or two.

Happy Catching

Thanks for the tip Paul.  Every time I pass through the channels on the boat my mouth waters at how fishy those sedges look :P

Trust me they are even better than you can imagine.  1 good thing for those that wade or use kayaks boat traffic back there is almost non existent as the average depth is only a couple of feet or so.

Most is walkable but you have to be careful.  Check out Google satellite views for a good look at the channels and holes.
