With not much happening on Friday, I try to round up some fellow fishermen for a fun day of bassin, but "some folks just gotta work" so i head out myself in search of bass. I round the hook, heading south and fog rolls in big time. Decided to drift some bunker chunks and wait for it to lift before continuing south. No action. 90 minutes later, fog lifts and I head south. Handful of boats at the Rocks, some trolling, some livelining. Since my bunkers aren't looking so good, I put out the spoons.

Green spoon gets hit, I grab the rod and the reel goes screaming. I'm thinking damn, I'm snagged until i feel the tugging. I start reeling and kinda figured this had some size to it. Yep it's a big fish. I net the fish and I'm thinking "how the hell am I gonna lift this baby into the boat." With a lot of perseverance I finally get it into the boat (while talking to myself the entire time). Certainly one for America's Funniest Videos...

My Buddy Erwin is kind enough (and strong enough) to help weigh the fish - 42.5 lbs!! My biggest ever! White meat for everyone....

Great job Capt Di!!! Gotta love them solo trips when you get something like that and later see the 'sorry, can't go guys'.

I would love to see a video of you hanging onto the rod and trying to get the net under that lunker.
