No signs of striper or blues outside of LEI, no birds doing anything either.
We did hear some chatter of Blues but not much.

The wreck fishing is as good as it can get with no junk fish either t^

Finally got to fish today. After helping a friend out in the morning getting his boat ready and a shake down run with him the A Frayed Sew made her maiden voyage in Great Bay. With a stiff south wind and rain blowing sideways we anchored for an hour or so with some fresh clam bellies. No hits no runs no errors. ::) At least the boat handled the crappy weater flawlessly. Come on Saturday.
This too shall pass.

had two stripers weighed in this past week, one on Wednesday 17.8 pounds, one on Sunday 14.1 pounds. Both caught on clams in the bay.

Check out the Chumbuckets new site www.thechumbucket.net we are mainly LE, and Great Bay. Also started a field testing program.

Just a hint guys and gals, If you are looking for the birds to help you with finding bait, or are just wondering what is going on well think clams, especially down south along IBSP and LBI.

After the storm on Monday the clam beds got hit pretty hard along the coast many shells have washed up onto the beaches.  If you can locate these beds you should do pretty good as the striped bass are feeding on them right now.

I was out at IBSP yesterday and the majority of fish caught was the striped bass in decent sizes all on clams.

I did not see any birds working at all or see any bait on the surface.  There were plenty of boats at the mouth of Barnegat Inlet and north.  They were clustered over where the beds are located.  If you go out mark in your mind where these boats are and you should do well off the surf in those areas.

Happy Catching

Thanks for the tip Paul.... Fishing the Surf is a complicated thing to learn. I cannot wait till I figure this stuff out. I did finally pick up a new rod and reel, and my casting distance is much better then it used to be. It is nothing great, but it is 10' and alot easier to use then the ones I have been using. Hopefully it will get things going.

P.S.- I ate the Skate and it was GREAT !!! I will never throw one back again if it is of a decent size. Like I said before...If you can't beat em'...Eat em'
