Roosters Flukin 8-31
« on: August 31, 2011, 06:37:42 PM »
Tom and I hauled the Roosters on Friday because of Irene; today she went back in about 8AM. Out to the TC buoy while dodging the abundant flotsam and jetsam looking for our favorite flatfish. Not finding any Fluke of any size we made our way to the ocean stopping at #13 Sandy Hook channel, then North Beach, and out to #7 Can. All that we came up with was a small Sea Robin. Finding some Bunker the snag hooks came out to try for possible Stripers, but all that were there was Blues. Heading back in very carefully a stop was made by #2 Shrewsbury Channel where Fluke were found on the shallow flats, but no keepers.  Pete

Just a word of caution to all anglers.

This time last year we had a pretty bad Nor'Easter hit our area (Labor Day weekend) and the Fluke fishing from that point on never recovered.

Let's hope for all our sake that this is NOT a repeat of last year. So far, reports I have read are not too encouraging. But I remain optimistic.
