Around The Hook, Flukin' (sort of) 8/7
« on: August 08, 2007, 02:29:35 PM »
Finally got out after work last nite with Tombo aboard. HH&H, flat, and very little breeze on outgoing tide. Got out to The Hook and saw a few drifters but nothing coming over the rails. Conditions were such that Tombo & I looked at each other & said "Let's Go" so ran east in and around the channel for a bit... Saw a few more drifters about a mile out so setup near by in about 60ft of water. Robins aplenty and some smaller flatties; nothing for the box on two long drifts. Tombo was like a little kid out there, tho; almost worth the fuel for that. Lost the daylight way too fast & headed on back in to see a few trollers in the Rip about 1/2hr past dusk; nothing doing there either that we could see but didn't stick around long. We weren't getting back anytime before 11....

Still way better than work! The first fins were boated (and unboated) so she's o-fish-ally Christened!!!

Good report,

It sounds like you had a blast even though the bite was off.

Happy Catching

It nice to get honest reports, even if they aren't that successful...  it does sound like a nice day on the water..

Nice report.  It was a no drift slow pick all day so you didn't miss anything by getting out late.

Just getting out is a pleasure in itself.   t^
