Chicken of the Sea Bft/Mako - 06-07-2012
« on: June 08, 2012, 10:48:55 AM »
Headed out at false light with a crew of Kirk, Reggie, Neil and Lee for a shot at the bluefins. After exploring some we came tight and Lee was fighting his first tuna. Unfortunately we lost then fish at the leader. Next up we came tight on a wwb green machine bird combo and put a fat 40 inch bft in the box. Continued to work the area and had a few more bites that didn't come tight until one did only to have a rigger clip fail resulting in a lost fish and Sterling tackle green machine spreader bar. Decided to try sharking for a while and with clean, blue 65 degree water we put the boat on the drift. Within 15 minutes Lee was fighting his first shark, a medium sized blue, that ate a live bunker. After a clean release Reggie was tight on a blue shark that put a hurting on him before being released. Next up was Neil coming tight on nice mako that ate a bluefish filet. With no flyer or poon on the boat it was a quick shoot em and stick em with the straight gaff and we had a mako in the boat. Cleaned up and ran for the barn in calm seas. All of the tuna bites came on green Sterling bars - 18 and 36 inchers - plus one green machine bite. God bless our troops!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
