Meteor Off of Lavallette !?
« on: September 01, 2007, 11:07:27 PM »
Hi All,

Thanks Rod for the heads up!

News and local police are reporting a meteor splashed into the Atlantic Ocean just off of Lavallette. There are numerous search and resue boats and one helicopter checking the area.

If you planned on fishing there (which has been ok lately) you may have to put up with different craft checking out the area.

Just a heads up,

Capt. Ed

s there a green glow in the water?

Only kidding,  I hope it was not an aircraft.  Thats all we need this time of year.  What time was this suppose to have taken place?

I miss all the good stuff.  I guess the search has been called off because of darkness?

Don't mind all the questions I have been in the house most of the day installing recessed lighting in the kitchen and am a little punchy right now.

Hi Paul,

Between 9-10 or so.

I just got back ... there are boats and a helicopter still out there.

I went to Ortley and they were a bit north of where I was.

I tried to call a police buddy but he did not answer.

It was on all the Philadelphia, New York and the lone NJ TV news.

The FAA reported there were no missing commercial or private planes.

More tomorrow,

Ed

That is really wierd. Its funny because when we were out fishing last night, I want to say it was around 930 pm. We were out about 3 miles south west of the verazzano bridge and we were looking to the right of coney island and we saw this huge orange type of flame all the way in the distance, and it was looking like it was a fire becasue it was changing shapes and what not because of the wind blowing the fire around. And we saw like all this smoke blowing real low to the right of it. Lavalette isnt that way though ? Lavalette is to the south of sandy hook many miles. That is wierd, maybe 2 meteors hit!! Also when we were fishing we saw some things in the water that were like glowing, and someone mentioned that we have aliens now in the water. That is before we knew a meteor hit lavalette. Just a wierd coincidence.

Maybe it is a new Fish Management tool to get people to stop fishing. lol

All kidding aside, this is very interesting.  I love this stuff.

I just hope it was not a aircraft.

Hi fishon, what you probably saw in the water was phosphorescence.  This is normal at night.  In fact is is pretty cool.

Happy Catching

In fact what you probably saw might have been space junk.

There is so much up there that has to come down sooner or later.  Things like old satellites even the last space walk they lost a bolt or two, sooner or later they will return to earth in a fiery display.

Lets hope this is what everyone saw and not an aircraft.
