FishOn42's Report 9/1/07
« on: September 02, 2007, 12:45:47 AM »
Ok. Got to AH marina at 630 this morning and wasted no time to go out and fish. Had squid, killies, and some gulp with us. Looked for peanut bunker in the marina to get with the cast net but surprisingly we didnt find any. Was on a boat with 4 other guys, an 18 foot boston whaler. Started out fishing the bay and hit a few shorts and ALOT of robins and picked 1 keeper at 17 inches. Talked to Nick (Luna Sea 3), helped me out, so we headed out over to the Keyport Flats. Picked through some short fluke and managed a nice keeper at 22 inches. After a while of fishing there, the sun started to kick in so we decided to rip the boat over to Shrewsbury Rocks and was it rough out there or what! Ended up with 1 keeper sea bass from there, and a keeper fluke at about 18 inches. Lost alot of rigs too. Headed back to the marina to get some fuel, food and drink and on our way back we saw peanut bunker in the marina so we decided to throw the net and got about 250 of them. Headed back out to the tip of the hook to fish the ocean side and caught plenty of sea robins. They were insane out there, and they were all really small. Ran south of the tip at about 16' of water and myself and a freind each caught 4 foot sand sharks. This was right about when it was going to get dark out, and my cousin pulled up a 17 1/2 inch fluke. Fished seemed to be in the shallower waters from 10-25' deep. Decided to fish until about 10:30 pm and caught a bunch more smaller sand sharks and what not. No bluefish or stripers. Just got back to the house now and going to sleep. Ended the 17 1/2 hour trip with only 4 fluke and 1 seabass. All in all it was a great day to be out but the sea's were pretty rough. We had some close calls with the waves and the wake of other boats combined as we were hitting top speed of about 35 mph with this little boat. Good day though...

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
