Smashed Boat

Hey all, anyone know what happened to that boat (Parker I think?) at the Shark River Yacht Club? Looks like the cabin is all smashed.  5hrug

It was run over by a 32 Albemarle doing 30 knots. The parker was drifting with one pob, fluke fishing.  



The occupant of the Parker got a little bruised up, no serious injuries at all. I spoke to him when the boat was towed in, he seem to still be in shock over the incident. He was definitely the luckiest man on earth that day. It happened at 3pm, clear day, bright and sunny. Don't know why the Albemarle operator didn't see the Parker. Inattentive at the very least.

In pic two, the two 'scuff marks' are where the props hit the boat. The operator of the Parker was sitting in the rear drifting for fluke. If he was anywhere else on that boat he would not be amongst the living today.

Absolutely did, not a drop of water in it as it was towed to the travel lift from Long Branch, about a seven or eight mile tow to the inlet.  t^

Don't know the extent of damage to the Albemarle, didn't see it and the Parker operator didn't have an answer to that. He did say that when the Albemarle went over his boat the Albemerle had one of it's props wrap the port bow rail causing something to shear off. The motor then over reved and got cooked. Other than that, don't know about any other damage, but both vessels stayed afloat.

  fcp thud, I had heard about this, but wasn't sure how true it was, even checked the local papers online an didn't see anything reported. Would love to know what was up with the other boat operator :headscra: We all drift out there take for granted those bigger boats coming near your location will change their course. Then there are the times you just want to toss that 8oz sinker at them  smk

Wow, that is some hit taken by the Parker. Lucky that the guy was not killed. Damn shame he had to lose his boat in such a manner, most likely due to the failure to keep a proper lookout by the Captian of the 32. I hope the insurance company settles the claim promptly, and he is back on the water for the Fall Striper Run.  Like Skip mentioned, I'm always wondering if that is going to happen to me when another vessel is speeding through the drifting fleet.

Based on the Parker owner's statement, it's pretty obvious BOTH vessels were not maintaining a proper lookout.

Lucky for sure; he had the golden ticket that day

::) Just my two cents, again  :P First off the captain of any boat drifting or not should always be aware of their surrondings....however if not under power and some Jack Ass comes flying through a fleet of boats drifting and clearly fishing that person AND HIS BOAT should be shot with PAINT BAllS or agreed a BUNCH OF 8oz sinkers thrown at his head! One other thing Dad taught me, is when comming up on other boats, SLOW DOWN...WHY go so close and fast to others that you rock them off their seat with your stupid ass wake that is totally unnecessary... I dont care if we are fishing in the channel or not, there are 50-100 boats fishing...SLOW DOWN  >:( >:( That man could have been killed!!!! Killed because some idiot A**HOLE in his big ol boat had to speed and OBVIOUSLY speed and come up way to close to the other boat!!!!  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(
