Very well might be "LAST" flukin' day 9/7
« on: September 07, 2007, 05:10:06 PM »
Joe and I headed out again, with NOAA's somewhat bad predictions again. Seas weren't too bad as we headed towards the south end of the Carlson Reef. WE got there to find a few other boats plus the big Norma and Gambler. The drift, at first, was not bad at all, but time and wind changed that big time. We caught fish the whole time from 9:30 to 12:30. However the "shorts" out numbered the keepers about 3+ to 1. We kept 12 to 5# and one nice sized Cbass. By the time we decided to quit, we were using an 8oz sinkers, with 10# Power Pro!!! I NEVER used that much weight before, ever, but it was 71 -75 ft and 20 mph wind. We both had the 8's on for about 5 minutes and both of us couldn't stand fishing like that and it made us quit. With the predicted winds for tonight thru the rest of the weekend, I'm pretty sure we've called it a season. Those seas were nasty by the time we quit fishing. I wouldn't take the ride there tomorrow in those seas. Besides I've got plenty of fillets in the freezer. NOW, I need to think Cbass. I sure hope stripers get back QUICK!!!!

Good report Bukman.  It did get quite snotty out there in the afternoon.

Can't wait to get into the striper action too.  Until then, it will be seabass.   t^
