Ok, this may be a dumb question, but my saltwater fishing is almost exclusively inshore and bay.  What is considered offshore?
Manasquan Ridge? Mud Hole?  Canyon?  How far off is offshore? 20 knots?

The reason I ask is because I was hoping to get on a party boat for blues on Wednesday and I'd rather be fighting fish than trying to keep my balance. Your forecast looks bad, but the one from Weather Underground looks much nicer:

Hi Bucktail,

As a general rule, NOAA regards 20 miles as the inshore/offshore line.

If the fleets are fishing the Mudhole, you are on the ambiguous line (in my opinion).

The Manasquan Ridge is definitely inshore from Manasquan Inlet.

The offshore is being influenced by the storm veering off of North Carolina. The waves will be felt inshore, but not as prominently as offshore.

I have a better suggestion. There is no need to run to the Mudhole for blues. They are all over the place from Long Branch North.

If you want false albacore with blues, they are off of Lavallette/Ortley Beach right now.

PS: Even if you use the current inshore forecast, 10-15 mph NW winds will make it uncomfortable out there in a smaller boat ...
