Queen Mary: Bonito/Albacore Trip 9/27/07
« on: September 27, 2007, 04:50:53 PM »
It was a great day for bonito today!  We left the dock at 6:00am today.

I caught the first fish on the boat about 10 seconds after they dropped the hook, and we never looked back!

Had fish on all morning with many multiple hook-ups.  Sometimes 5 and 6 at a time!  Mostly all bonito.  There was only one albie caught and one bluefish.  A couple of dogfish, a short fluke, and a stargazer were caught by the guys fishing bait.

I stayed with jigs all day and had a blast!

We left them biting around 12 noon.  I had a total catch of at least 35 fish!  And that is a conservative guess!

Kudos to Captain John and his terrific crew!

-Bob

Way to go on the bones.John Brackett always loved to chase the tunoids..I'll be heading out this weekend looking for them.. how far out  where you? Bonitos are very tasty..Lots of folks love 'em shashimi style..just make sure you ID 'em properly and don't mistake a false albie for one..False albacore would gag a a seagull
