Mako Shark Tag Returned

Shared this on my Facebook Page today:
Learned today that a Mako pup I caught on the NanSeaJ in 2010 was caught @ 1600 miles offshore and the tag returned. Pretty cool to hear it went out that far and how big it actually got. Was about 50lbs when we caught it and was over 5ft when re-caught. Tagging system does work! Thanks again to Capt Tom and Joe!

That has to be a great feeling getting the tag back.  t^ slt Did they tell you who caught it this time and what they did with the mako?

That's nice to hear some one took the time to contact a fellow fisherman about a tag. Interesting to hear  the shark traveled 1600 miles. Wonder what area ??

The shark was caught in 2011 by a Commercial longliner fishing at the Ridge about 1600 miles out. Don't know why it took so long to report/return the tag but glad to hear they took the time to do so and I/we could learn about it's travels....
