Early Morning Stripers 10/14 A Tad Better but no big shakes

Ran out for a early morning scouting mission today......manged 4 bass 3 shorts to 25" and one keeper at 28".....all released. Water temp was 66 degrees, got the bass on Clams off the Hook.

While a 1000% better than yesterday, still nothing to speak about

sitting there looking stupid, now thats stupid to say... you should say, sitting out there getting some nice, fresh, ocean air on a beautiful fall afternoon.

Guess the word got out about yesterday's all-around skunking, because there wasn't ANYONE fishing the Manasquan River today.  Not a single boat at the mouth of the canal.  So, I wound up just heading out for a ride on the water in the new boat, mostly.  Took it through the PP canal for the first time, went down the bay almost to the Rt. 37 bridge and turned back.  Anchored near the Mantoloking Bridge to see if I could get anything, and nothing bit.  Plus, I lost my crippled herring lure I just bought yesterday on a snag near the bridge.

Eh, oh well, it was still nice hanging out on my new toy, listening to music and casting a line.

I really gotta learn from some of you pros about striper fishing, especially in the Manasquan River area.  If anyone feels like headin' out one day, drop me a PM.  Gas and bait on me.

 north of manasquan in the shark river area irish ayes should be the one to hound.

 i think i'm the only one who consistantly runs outta the barney inlet area, and i'm a noob , so what info i have, i'm still trying to figure out myself.

Nothing yet near Shark River.  Was out today and got some blues, that's about it for now.

Thanks!  Yup, I gotta get together with Capt. Ed sometime soon.  I'm hoping for a day off from work this Friday, so maybe he'll be around.  I might make a thread in Open Boat seeing if there's any interest.  Nothing like learning some tips and meeting a new fishing buddy all in one day.
