Oh we are a go!
I have sent capt. Bob $6000.00 so far. We do not get it back unless he calls the trip off due to weather or if we want to lose our $6000.00.

If someone else backs out and we can not fill that spot they will loose the money they paid and we all have to split the difference that is due.

The total for the trip is $435.00
The very first post shows how much you have paid.

Just curious with the catch.. Do you keep the fish or does the Captain keep it, or a % of it.. I am just curious on how that works... Also, on a good to average day, does everyone at least catch 1 fish each.  From watching wicked tune, sometimes they don't catch anything for over a week..

Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

the catch if your lucky enough is yours to keep. No not everybody will catch a fish or even hook up with one for that matter. Last year there were 3 tuna and 2 swords on the entire boat. the night before our trip they had 1 sword and no tuna. Hopefully the ocean will offer a plentiful catch for all. Last year the ones lucky enough to catch fish were generous enough to share there catch with the rest of us

whs and the guys that went out the trip after ours caught a bunch of fish  t^from what I heard.
It's fishing and some days are better then others.

Also two swords and three tuna shared with 20 something guys made two meals for my family.

It's a lot like night blue fishing Nick just bigger fish.  t^

I was reading on the farm just yesterday that guys like to bring their own flouro to make up their leaders.  Should we bring any of that?  There are a couple shows going on down here where I can probably look to pick some stuff up. swivels, hooks, leader, etc.  the only thing I haven't really been able to find at the few shows I've been to here already is weights. Should we be looking for any of that stuff?

That's how we roll here at NJSWF  t^

Pro bass and cabellas sell them too.  They work okay but not great.

They will have it all on the boat for sale.
If we get into a good bite and the mates are busy, you might want to bring your own just so you can get back in the water faster.

Egg sinkers above the swivel, leader (floro) if you wish to hook.
Hooks 4/0 - 8/0 bait hook most will use 6/0

Hello men. The crew of the Gambler is excited about our upcoming canyon trip with the NJ saltwater crew. One of the questions that was asked: do we provide rigs? Yes, we have basic 80lb with a mustad 6/0 beak hook and a 100lb rated barrel swivel. If anyone needs a rod and reel, we have that too.

Bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Boots and foul weather gear suggested. Bring your favorite jigs and a 20/30 lb class rod for mahi. There may be a chance to fish for tilefish and if you want to try that, bring a set-up that can hold 300 yards (1500ft) of 60lb braid. We will have some tile rigs and sinkers on board but that does cost extra.

The ride out: If we go 90 miles @ 20 knots will take us 4.5 hours (may take up to another 1.5 hours of searching with our electronics before we stop).

This will be a good trip. We have an excellent, experienced crew and the Gambler is a great vessel.

I don't get into the office too much because, thankfully, I'm usually on the ocean. But you can e-mail me at captbogan@aol.com and I will respond when I get back into the office at least once a week.

Looking forward to seeing you guys.

Capt Bob
