Weekend 8/16 + 8/17 fluke
« on: August 17, 2014, 06:50:11 PM »
Back at it Sat with my son and his buddy. Hit some old holes on the NY side I haven't fished in a long while.  Drift sucked everywhere we went but managed 4 keepers to 20".  I bounced BT's and did nothing, the boys dragged old school killies and squid and put the 4 keepers in the box.

Sun stayed in close once the wind kicked up. Bounced around the flats in SH bay.  1 keeper and a ridiculous amount of shorts!  The boys put at least least 40 fluke on the deck today.

Overall a successful weekend, kids had a ball and fell asleep on the ride home from the ramp, so all good.  BBQ bacon burgers on the water was a huge hit!!

Check pic of the baitfish. What is it?  Thought it was a sandeel but nose was pointy?

nice Dan, keepers have been tough

that looks to be one of those Magma Stainless grills; I like mine a lot, only thing I notice is they need to be somewhat sheltered from wind to burn correctly- depending where you are grillin' it may be difficult to get/keep it going...

Hey guys thanks!

Tree...that's def what it is.  Fluke spit it out on deck. Kicked it aside as I thought it was just a sandeel then got a closer look cleaning up. Cool looking fish, first one I've seen.

HR, the grill is def worth it.  Like Warren said, a little finicky if the wind is blowing. That little grill gets damn hot and cooks quick. Nice having a hot meal out there every now and then.
