Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

I would think things should pickup after this mini NE storm in a day or so. Like Clam off the beach or mouth of the inlets and the hook.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody

Clams work in the fall but I prefer to use them in the spring. The before snow season I tend to stick with bunker/ eels t^

Tell ya the truth BigAl Ive never tried bunker or eel, wouldn't even know how to rig them. I have only fished with plugs, clam, and worm. Shows you my limited knowledge on fishing Strippers, not that I haven't had success fishing with what I used, but everything has been from the shore or the Naval Pier.

The navy pier is cheating  smk. Plugs in the was or on the troll work very well also, bait fishing in the fall bunker tend to produce better than clams at least for me.

Rigging bunker is easy cut it in a chunk and put it on the hook t^

Eels are a little more difficult, from the beach I always drop them in the sand first so I can get a good grip, then I take a pair of pliers and ever so gentle smash there backs so the wont tangle the line. Then just but the hook throw the bottom jaw and up through the nose  t^

I live 100 yards from the upper Manasquan River (fresh water). I could try something like a killy trap there..just don't want to get caught. >:D

As Al said, Killie traps will catch eels.  They work better if you use an extension piece in the middle to lengthen the trap.  Without the extension piece eels will back out of the hole if they're nose touches the opposite side of the trap.  Bait shops sell the extension pieces too.
