A very unsettled week through Christmas Eve and a mixed water conditions! A strong winter storm will affect much of the central and eastern portions of the country with snow and rain. Our area will be on the tail end with rain, maybe a wintry mix across northern areas on Monday, and some windy and high seas. Monday will begin the precipitation continuing through Wednesday. The peak of the rain will come on Wednesday. This could make for preholiday traveling issues! If you are traveling, keep this is mind. Rain will clear out for Thursday/Christmas with just some lingering showers on Thursday Day, mainly across the north. Friday will be clear and dry as well. Highs will be warm with this “winter storm” as a warm front is pulled up across the area. 50’s and 60’s will be seen with some 40’s across the north. Overnight lows will only be in the 40’s with some 30’s across the north. By Christmas Day, a cold front will return and highs will be back into the 40’s with lows in the 30’s. Water conditions will be mixed…Monday will start off good, deteriorating to cautious for Monday Afternoon/Night and into Tuesday and then hazardous for Wednesday for some areas. Thursday will be mixed good to cautious and Friday looks like things could improve to good. Winds could near 30 knots with seas to 10 feet on Tuesday and Wednesday. Surf and beach conditions will be the same as water conditions. Surf will be rough and high starting Tuesday and could peak to 8 feet with winds nearing 30 knots as well before improving for Friday. Water temperatures are steady in the 50’s with some 40’s. UV Index will be Low at 0-2/15.

High pressure centered over Quebec will drift eastward and into Atlantic Canada by Monday. Weak low pressure will develop off of the Carolina Coast on Monday before moving slowly northeastward and dissipating off of the DELMARVA on Tuesday. Low pressure is expected to develop around the Central Gulf Coast on Tuesday. The low should strengthen as it lifts northward and across the Eastern Great Lakes on Wednesday Night. The low should pull a warm front through the region on Wednesday, followed by a cold front late on Wednesday Night. High pressure should then follow from the Southwest for Thursday and Friday. Another cold front from the west will arrive on Saturday.

The weekend looks dry with highs in the 30’s and 40’s and lows in the 20’s and 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be mixed from good/borderline to cautious.

Have a great week! From my family to yours…have a very Merry Christmas! Be safe and enjoy.

Thanks for reading!
