Point Pleasent Inlet
« on: October 29, 2007, 01:58:39 PM »
Fished the inlet today from about 11:00am to 1:30.  Didn't see much happening.  Just as I was about to leave hit a mini blue fish blitz.  Couple of 3 pounders.  Better than getting skunked.

They are great on light tackle, but they make me nuts when they bite Fin-S fish in half and no one has pink in stock, LOL. Brielle Bait and Tackle reports some 30 inch weakies taken late last week at the inlet, but didn't know if they were still around on the weekend. Movement is going to accelerate very quickly because it's so late in the season, which means there should be some good stripers there by the end of this week, if not already.

Wink_man I was at Efingers in Bound Brook the other day and they were overflowing with Pink Fin-s and also pink with sparkles. Picked up a few packs. May be a bit of a ride for you tho.

Thanks for the tip, but I lucked out on Sunday. I went to wal-mart looking for some picture frames(which they didn't have), so I walked over to the fishing dept. and found 9 packs of pink Fin-S which they were previously out of and I didn't think they would get in till spring. Needless to say, I bought all 9 packs.

Hey Gary,

Your getting quite the rep.  While talking to a few guys at Ortley Beach the talk got around to the canal and weakfish and your name popped up.  Good job.

Happy Catching

Thanks for the kind words. Yup, I know the guys you're talking about, real nice older gentlemen, retired, and pretty much fish every morning. They seem to come over to the canal when conditions are snotty on the surf. I think they were quite surprised when I was willing to share with them how I was catching the fish, right down to modifying the jighead. One guy, Tom, used the setup like I told him and got a nice weakie. But, unfortunately, it came to an abrupt end with the weather change and the weakies moving out.
