You'll never get a definitive answer for this question. People catch fish on both tides. Many will tell you that incoming tide through high tide is the best time to fish because there is more water and it brings the bait in towards shore. However, there is almost always enough water on an outgoing tide through low tide and plenty of places that hold fish and bait. Most fish are caught in only a few inches to a few feet of water in the wash or just outside the closest breaking waves.

So, this doesn't really answer your question, but both tides can be productive. There are pros and cons to both. Most prefer incoming through high tide because there is more water, however if the tides are outgoing give it a try. Low tides also allow you to find and see structure that you can't see during high tide.

After you get some time on the sand, you will be able to decide which tide you like fishing better. Any time is a good time to fish! Good luck!!
