Sundays Stripers
« on: November 13, 2007, 10:33:54 PM »
Launched out of the Highlands Municipal ramp around 11am with two friends aboard. Went around the hook to the rip to drift with clams and fresh Bunker. No Luck, 5hrug    We anchored up near the rip with no results. The tied was outgoing and very strong. We saw drifting boats colliding with anchored boats. The drifting boats were not looking behind them at all!
Around 3:30pm we started trolling near the Navy pier. Some boats were being chased away from the pier by a Navy jet propelled Boat. We used a shad umbrella rig on one pole and a single 9" shad on the other. The birds were working everywhere.. We pulled in a 2 short striper's at once with the umbrella rig. Then we landed a 29" Striper on the 9" shad. We landed 2 more shorts, one short was 27 1/2".. :'(  The keeper was delicious.

Anchoring anywhere near the rips or beach, bug light in Sandy Hook is a BAD idea!

Nice report Hunter,

It is always a good day even when the catch is only one keeper.

Happy Catching
