January 3 , Togging , Point Pleasant

Sunday Jan 3, A bunch of us jumped on a NS large open charter out of Point Pleasant. Kenny, Paule, Capt Joe, Bob s, Oz, Pete, Andy . West Wind all day and some strong current at times. Kenny landed a nice Cod. Bob had a Fluke. Maybe 25 to 30 keepers for the boat with around 25 guys.
Captain Kenny and Crew were very good and moved around many times to put us on the bite.
We all had a good time on the water.

Fun trip with a great bunch of guys.

Slow pick of keepers around the boat with the stern section having the better haul of keepers. Many short fish come over the rails and went back to grow up.

Kudos to Kenny on the keeper cod and several keeper black fish.

Gotta do this more often with more members coming aboard.  ovrbt pcrn

Real fun day .. Weather man was off in our favor .. Forecast was 3 to 4 with the west wind that really didn't develope till the end of the day ... Think we fished in 2 footers if that ...beautiful January day on the ocean..

Crazy bite right off the get go ... Thought it was going to be a great day for us..But it only lasted about an hour .. Would get a quick flurry at the beginning of every new drop then the fish would get picky just playing with the baits ...

I did notice that the guys fishing a shorter rig ( maybe 6 to 8 inches ). With a single hook and smaller bait presentation did the best ...The really strong south current was turning the longer rigs with to much bait into helicopters...  When I shortened up I got a lot more bites ... And the guy next to me caught his limit with orange bellied greenies with legs on.

Go figure    5hrug


Skip wanted to try a re-shoot of our failed Belmar rig Video but I thought not  rofla.

Perhaps my skinny  jeans had my timing off a little  pcrn

As always we all had a great time !!

As always fishing with the crew is a great relaxing fun day on the water t^ Biggest surprise of the day was Eddies buddy Bob pulling the Fluke over the rail t^
