Hallie Loren Fluking 9-10-16
« on: September 11, 2016, 09:32:02 AM »
Saturday I had a bunch of non fishing friends aboard for a  fluke trip. After explaining how to use my conventional boat rods and how to hold them upright we started fcp. Tried a few spots right in Keyport them moved a little deeper. Nada,.  Hit up the Belford flats and channel, Flynns knoll, sandy hook channel. Candlesticks, nude beach , edge of the Ambrose, West Bank, old orchard, Raritan reach 10 bouy,  keansberg hole and flats, back to Keyport buoy 1 and sailboat area.
Total was 3 short fluke, 12 dogfish and many sea robins.  The guys had a blast anyway and can't wait to come back out again.  Wagners marina fluke tournament was the same day and many had similiar results.   My friend got 3rd place with a 4lb fluke

Tough for sure. You definitely hit too many spots not to see results. The fish are full of multiple fresh peanuts. Stay under 15 ft. deep, use 1/2 - 1 oz. plain white Bucktails with nothing on em. This time of the year produces fish to 10 lbs. in the local shallows for us. Good luck Eddie  t^
