Irish Ayes 11/1/16
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:36:45 PM »
Finally got out fishing again, for only the second time this year, with my good friend Capt. Joe Gogan on his boat Irish Ayes.  Kevin, Jim and Brian joined us as well.

Our intended target was stripers, and I thought we had hit the jackpot when we came out of the inlet.  There were tons of bunker flipping on the surface and coming out of the water.  Thought for sure there was something big underneath them, feeding.

As it turned out, that wasn't the case.  Seemed like everywhere we went we found the prey, but not the predators.  We gave it our all though and finally hooked up with some truly monster bluefish towards the end of the day.  Not the species we were after, but still had a blast catching them!

And the bonus was seeing a couple of whales feeding on the bunker pods.

Couldn't have picked a nicer day weather wise, and the lack of action afforded us some quality time to talk about politics.  fcp  LOL!  nosmly  ;D

All in all, it was a great day on the water.  Thanks Joe! t^

  • There's more to it than catching

I think most of the stripers were caught Saturday and the few remaining were caught sunday. Don't tell fish and game that but that's my opinion.
A good day of fishing is better than a bad day of fishing. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. That means work sucks!

It was excellent weather wise today. Just couldn't find the striped ones. Will have to try again tomorrow.  TT^
