2017 commercial fluke regs ???????
« on: January 24, 2017, 10:52:49 AM »
Ok If I  read this correctly NJ is giving the commercial fishermen an open book on  taking the breeder stock of Fluke.
If you look at the chart--Jan. Feb. & Sept. Oct.---The allocation  they gave tends to give the commercials 3 times the amount of breeders they can keep-then other months?
So when I read that “I can go to the store and buy a 14” filet of fluke-that’s an approx. a 20 “ fish correct???

Also they say a 30% reduction but 16.7 for NJ and the 10% by catch-so that would be a 6.7 reduction for the coms.

What are your thoughts --or just enlighten me--Thanks

Try telling the Game Warden the extra fish in the cooler is "By Catch", I'm sure it will go over well. Commercial guys got it made.
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

14" is not the filet size, it is the minimum size fish the comms can take. The filet itself will be much smaller.  :P

16.7% is the NJ's comms share of the COAST WIDE limit, not their reduction.

Believe me, I am not an advocate of the comms.

Yea Joe--that post  about 14" filets was a quote from someone on here--And yes a 14" fluke would yield about a 6-8" filet. t^
