Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Brad and Renee Lafountain along with their children, Savannah, Alexis and Zachary, from Vermont chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The Lafountain were in Fort Lauderdale on vacation and decided to add a fishing excursion to their busy vacation schedule.  We had sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 80’s.

Fifteen/twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore, in 120 ft. of water. We started out trolling with two plainers down and sea witches with a double hooked Bonito strip behind them.  For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips.  My plan was to troll to one of our artificial wrecks located in 225 ft. of water.  For the past few days, we have been catching some Amberjacks and Groupers on the wrecks.  We had some live bait left over from our previous charter so we put down a live Goggle Eye on top of the wreck.  We had a couple of misses, but then hooked up – Zach was our angler and reeled in an Amberjack.  Nice job Zach!!

From there we went out to 360 ft. of water and put out two Shark baits – a surface and bottom – and a kite with two live Goggles Eyes.  As the family was discussing their vacation, Sailfish right long!!! – Sailfish right short!!!! – Double Header.  Both Sailfish came out of the water immediately and showed their magnificent colors with the sun gleaming down and reflecting their unbelievable blue and silver neon shade.  Savannah and Zach were our anglers and both brother and sister enjoyed the fight.  Five minutes into the battle, Zach’s Sailfish decided he did not want to play anymore and spit the hook.  Savannah reeled the Sailfish to the side of the boat where Dave, our mate, lifted the fish up for picture taking and release.  Life is good!!!

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock.   The family retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
