Another mixed week for weather, but water conditions will be cautious to hazardous. Monday will start off dry, then showers will start moving on for Monday Night, then all day Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday look mostly dry. Highs will be in the 70’s and 80’s with lows in the 50’s to 70’s. Water conditions will be cautious to hazardous with winds to 30 knots this week and seas to 10+ feet inshore and 20+ feet offshore. Surf and beach conditions will be hazardous and dangerous to go in the water, as many beaches are unguarded. Water temperatures inshore are in the low to mid 70’s with offshore waters in the upper 60’s.

High pressure will stay over our region tomorrow, before weakening Tuesday. Hurricane Maria will track northward over the Atlantic waters, approaching the Coastal Carolinas on Wednesday, then curving out to sea on Thursday as a cold front passes through the region. A second cold front may propagate through our region Friday into Saturday before a large area of high pressure builds over the Northeast.

The Atlantic Tropics have calmed some after a long streak of storms. Jose and Maria still exist. While Jose will stay out to sea, Maria walloped the islands, including Puerto Rico. She will come up the East Coast this week, just barely affecting OBX and should stay well off of our coast. She will still need to be watched, but at North Carolina, she should make a easterly turn and head out to sea. She will only bring HAZARDOUS water conditions all week.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Your Monday report is already wrong. Flat seas, not much wind.
