Range test 8/5
« on: August 05, 2018, 06:29:58 PM »
Filled up the boat just before the morning storms hit yesterday. Went down last night to load the boat for a fishing trip down towards Manasquan. Left the marina 430ish and got down there just about 6am. reef was pretty full of boats already. Played most of the day down there. Caught some short fluke, a couple keeper seabass and tons of shorts, doggies, skates, sea robins.  In between action watched a shark harass some bunker between the trap markers along with some cownosed rays. Once the shark was done, it was the whales turn. lol.  Ran back up north to Scotland wreck area. caught a few short seabass. Ran to 130ft just a bit more north and my buddy caught a nice ling. On the way to that spot we spotted something reflecting so we marked it to check on the way in. Ended up being a huge set of birthday balloons or some crap like that. Snagged it with a bunker snag, popped them all and put it in the boat. Then checked another object I saw floating which turned out to be a big sea turtle who poked his head out of the water, smiled and dove as we got our picture. checked a few more spots but no love. On the way back in spotted a HUGE school of dolphins. Made it to the naval pier but didn't mark a single piece of bait. Worked a couple other spots on the way back in but nothing interesting.  All in all, a great day for us and on only about a 1/4 tank of fuel t^

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

They truly are as long as you can take away something from the trip other than an expense. whether it's fish or just a nice view

Now that the fuel tank has settled, the gauge reads about 3/8 from full so still a pretty good range. Now to buy more gear and add more weight on the boat........

I may treat myself to a birthday gift and purchase another simrad to hook up to the motor and eliminate the old gauges ;D
